About this work

Tā entehā-ye hodżur engages with Sohrab Sepehri’s philosophy of presence in Mā hich, mā negāh (We: Nothing, We: Gaze). Rather than illustrating poetry, it forms an autonomous painterly statement in which image becomes poetic language.

Two green houses, two figures and a physical cord create a structure in which connection becomes tangible. As the woman takes her first step beyond the roof, the man reaches out to bear the weight of her decision. The painting captures not a meeting, but its possibility.

Between the canvases, monumental, tangled bands of paint evoke threads, roots, energy or embodied thought. A subtle apple form recalls Sepehri’s poetry without becoming a literal quotation. Deep purples and blues evoke the contemplative night, while green suggests life and hope.

Here, presence is an act of courage: the decision to step into the void and another person’s willingness to receive that step. The cord does not symbolise the bond; it brings it into being.
