About this work
The MuSi diptych brings together painting, poetry, and object. Each of these elements develops the same idea through a different language, forming a single, coherent artistic statement.
Two small boats drift across the still surface of the water at dusk. Separated by the boundary between two canvases, the figures hold the same cord in their hands, extending across both paintings. It is not an incidental connection, but a deliberate gesture: each figure chooses to hold one end. This physical element crosses the boundary of pictorial illusion, introducing real material into the painting and becoming the central axis of the relationship between the two figures.
The surface of the painting is built up through successive glazes and translucent layers of acrylic. Beneath the luminous palette of off-whites, ivory, warm beiges, shades of taupe, and subtle accents of pale turquoise and muted mauve, earlier underpainting remains visible, lending depth and an inner luminosity to the light.
